The short answer

If your CME hours are not complete when you renew, SCFHS can renew your registration for one year instead of two, and only once. It keeps you registered as a one-time safety net. To get back to a two-year renewal, have every hour posted to Mumaris Plus before the next one.

What is the SCFHS one-year renewal?

Each SCFHS professional registration period lasts two years, and each category has a CME target for that period: 20 hours for technicians, 40 for specialists and pharmacists, 60 for physicians and dentists. Renewal reads the hours posted to your Mumaris Plus record. When those hours fall short, SCFHS can still renew you, but for a single year rather than two. That option is available only once.

In practice this means you get a shorter period and you have already used your one safety net. The next renewal has no such fallback, so treat the shorter period as a planning project from day one. If you are reading this before your renewal and still have time, the last-minute CME plan may keep you on the two-year track.

Because the one-year option is available only once, there is no second one-year renewal to fall back on. Plan your next renewal with every hour posted.

A catch-up plan for the shorter period

Your target for the new period is shown in Mumaris Plus, so read it there first. Then work this plan:

  1. Read your record in the first week. Note your category, the hours due and the new end date.
  2. Work out the gap between the hours due and what is already posted.
  3. Book the hours early, in the first months, not the last weeks. Choose accredited activities only. Accreditation is per activity and per provider.
  4. Check each entry a few business days after each course. With Mulhim, hours are posted within 24 to 48 business hours.
  5. Fix any missing entry at once: contact the provider, then raise a Tawasul ticket with the provider name, activity approval number and activity date.
  6. Apply to renew from three months before the end, with every hour posted.

What does the catch-up look like in numbers?

Read your new target in your account first. Then divide the gap by 5, because each Mulhim course carries 5 CME hours. That gives you the number of courses to finish.

Take a pharmacist who reaches renewal with 25 of the 40 hours posted and receives the one-year renewal. Suppose the new period in Mumaris Plus shows 20 hours still to earn. That is four courses, which the 20-hour bundle covers. With 6 months of access, she can finish them in the first half of the year and still have months left for posting and any follow-up.

A physician in the same position whose account shows 40 hours due needs eight courses. The 40-hour bundle covers it. Spread over the first six months, that is a little over one course a month, and every entry is in the record long before renewal opens.

The numbers you see may differ, so always plan from what your own account shows. The method stays the same.

Which mistakes repeat the problem?

  • Relaxing because you were renewed. One year passes quickly, and the one-time option is already used.
  • Saving every course for the last month. Posting takes 24 to 48 business hours with Mulhim, and a missing entry needs time to chase.
  • Counting certificates. Renewal reads posted hours only.
  • Choosing activities without checking accreditation. An unaccredited activity adds nothing to your record.

Plan ahead of the reminder
As shown in Mumaris Plus, SCFHS sends a reminder about 60 days before your registration expires, by email and WhatsApp. In a one-year period that arrives fast. Aim to be finished well before it.

Close the gap with accredited hours

Every Mulhim course is SCFHS accredited and gives 5 CME hours. Mulhim is fully accredited. Each bundle gives 6 months of access, which fits comfortably inside a one-year period, and your certificates are always in your dashboard.

As shown in Mumaris Plus, hours earned beyond your target carry over as a balance you can use later, so finishing a little ahead does not waste effort. See also our SCFHS licence renewal CME checklist, and if an entry does not appear, read why CME hours do not show in Mumaris Plus.
