Last-Minute CME Before Your SCFHS Deadline: A Practical Plan

Find your gap, pick a pace, leave room for posting

The short answer

If your renewal is close, do three things today: read the hours still due in Mumaris Plus, choose a pace that closes that gap before the end of your period, and leave a buffer for posting. With 5-hour accredited online courses, most gaps can be planned week by week.

The dates that matter in your period

Your registration lasts two years, and your hours belong to that period. Late planning is common, so it helps to know which dates actually change your options.

Many practitioners start looking at their hours only when a reminder arrives. As shown in Mumaris Plus, SCFHS sends a reminder about 60 days before your registration expires, by email and WhatsApp. Treat that message as the day you start, because by then the time left is short.

Step 1: find your exact gap

Do not guess from memory or from the certificates in your folder. Open Mumaris Plus and read the CPD record for your current period. That number is what renewal will check. If you are unsure of your category, the guide to SCFHS hours by category walks you through it.

Hours you earned but cannot see
If you finished an accredited activity and the hours are not in your record, contact that provider today. If it is still missing, raise a Tawasul ticket with the provider name, the activity approval number and the activity date. Do this first, because it may shrink your gap.

Step 2: pick a pace by weeks left

Each accredited Mulhim course carries 5 hours. Here is what different gaps look like against the time you have:

Hours still dueCourses8 weeks left4 weeks left
2041 every 2 weeks1 per week
3061 per week2 a week, then 1 a week
4081 per week2 per week

Two courses a week is demanding next to full shifts, but it is doable if you use days off for longer sessions. Avoid cramming several courses into one day. You still want to remember what you learned. For a target of 40 hours, see this guide on earning 40 CME hours online before your SCFHS renewal.

Step 3: leave a buffer for posting

Renewal reads posted hours. Mulhim posts your hours to Mumaris Plus within 24 to 48 business hours after you complete a course. Plan to finish your last course at least a week before you apply, so that every hour is on your record when SCFHS looks.

  1. Read the hours still due in Mumaris Plus.
  2. Chase any missing hours from past activities.
  3. Choose the bundle that covers the remaining gap.
  4. Book study slots in your calendar around your shifts.
  5. Finish the last course a week before you apply.
  6. Check your record, then apply to renew.

How does a last-minute CME plan look before an SCFHS deadline?

Here is a typical case. A respiratory therapy specialist gets the reminder, opens Mumaris Plus and finds 15 of her 40 hours posted. Her period ends in five weeks. She is 25 hours short, which rounds up to 5 courses at 5 hours each, and she still has time to chase a conference she attended last year that never showed up in her record.

She writes to that provider on day one. Then she takes the 30-hour bundle rather than buying single courses, because six courses cover the 25-hour gap with one spare in case the missing activity never gets posted. She does two courses in each of the first two weeks and one in week three. That leaves two full weeks for posting and for a last look at her record before she applies.

The same logic works for any category. A technician 10 hours short needs 2 courses. A physician 20 hours short of 60 needs 4. Start from the posted number, divide by 5, and round up.

Last-minute mistakes we see often

  • Applying the same day the last course ends, before the hours are posted.
  • Doing four courses in one weekend and remembering almost none of it.
  • Ignoring a missing activity from earlier in the period, which could have shrunk the gap for free.
  • Waiting until the period has ended. The fine starts 31 days after, but your options narrow well before that.

If you have never applied through the portal before, read this guide on renewing your SCFHS registration in Mumaris Plus before the week you plan to apply.

If you cannot close the gap in time
When the required hours are not complete, SCFHS can renew your registration for one year instead of two, and only once. Finishing your hours keeps the full two-year renewal.

Pick the bundle that closes your gap

Every course is SCFHS accredited, and Mulhim is fully accredited. Each bundle gives 6 months of access, so you are not racing an access deadline as well as a renewal date. Certificates are downloaded from your dashboard.

Frequently asked questions

How fast can I earn CME hours online?

As fast as you can complete the courses. Each course is 5 hours, so two courses a week gives you 10 hours a week.

How soon do my hours reach Mumaris Plus?

Mulhim posts hours within 24 to 48 business hours after completion. Leave a buffer before you apply.

When can I apply to renew?

You can apply three months before your registration period ends.

What happens if I renew late?

A late fine applies from 31 days after your registration period ends.

I already have some hours. Do I need a full bundle?

Not always. If you need about 30 more, the 30-hour bundle is a step up that avoids paying for hours you do not need.
