The short answer

You can earn 40 CME hours online by completing eight SCFHS-accredited courses of 5 hours each. Mulhim's 40-hour bundle holds exactly that, gives you 6 months of access, and your hours are posted to Mumaris Plus within 24 to 48 business hours of finishing each course.

Is 40 hours really your target?

Before you plan anything, make sure 40 is your number. SCFHS sets continuing education hours by your professional category, not by your department or job title, and each target covers one two-year registration period. Forty hours is the target for a large group of practitioners, but not for everyone.

40
hours / 2 years

Specialists

Registered and specialist nurses, lab, physiotherapy, nutrition, respiratory therapy and radiology specialists.

40
hours / 2 years

Pharmacists

Pharmacists and clinical pharmacists.

60
hours / 2 years

Physicians and dentists

Forty hours take you two thirds of the way. Top up the rest.

20
hours / 2 years

Technicians

Your target is 20, so a 40-hour plan is more than you need.

If you are not sure which category you are in, the full guide to SCFHS hours by category lists every group, and your CPD record in Mumaris Plus shows what is still due.

Already have some hours?
Subtract the hours already posted to your Mumaris Plus record for this period. If you only need about 30 more, the 30-hour bundle is the better step.

Why earn your 40 CME hours online?

Forty hours is a real commitment on top of shifts, nights and family. Classroom events need fixed dates, travel and time off. Online courses let you study in short sessions, on your phone or laptop, and pick up where you stopped. For renewal, the place you studied makes no difference. SCFHS cares about two things: the activity was accredited, and its hours reached your record.

Accreditation in Saudi Arabia is granted per activity and per provider. Every Mulhim course is SCFHS accredited and carries 5 CME hours, and Mulhim is fully accredited, so eight courses give you a clean 40.

A weekly plan that fits a full roster

Pick a pace that you can hold even in a heavy month. These are two common plans for eight courses:

PlanWho it suitsCourses per weekTotal time
SteadyRenewal is more than three months away18 weeks
FocusedRenewal is one to two months away24 weeks
Spread outYou are early in your two-year period1 every 2 weeks16 weeks

Whatever plan you choose, count backwards from your renewal date and leave a margin for posting. Your access lasts 6 months, so the steady and spread-out plans fit comfortably inside it.

What does this look like for a real roster?

Take a registered nurse whose period ends in four months. Her target is 40 hours. She opens Mumaris Plus and sees 10 hours already posted from a workshop earlier in the period, so 30 are still due. That is six Mulhim courses, which is exactly the 30-hour bundle at SAR 295. At one course a week she finishes in six weeks, well before the renewal window opens three months ahead of the period end.

Now take a lab specialist with nothing posted and seven weeks left. He needs all 40, so eight courses. One a week would take eight weeks, which is too tight. Two a week gets him there in four, with three weeks to spare for posting and for checking his record.

Mistakes that cost people their renewal date

  • Finishing the last course on the final day. Posting takes 24 to 48 business hours, and a weekend can stretch that.
  • Counting certificates instead of posted hours. Your Mumaris Plus record is what SCFHS reads.
  • Buying 40 hours as a technician. Your target is 20, so four courses cover you.
  • Assuming a physician is done at 40. The target for physicians and dentists is 60.
  • Letting the period end. A late fine applies from 31 days after it ends.

From first lesson to posted hours

  1. Check your category and the hours still due in Mumaris Plus.
  2. Choose the 40-hour bundle and start the first course.
  3. Complete each course at your own pace.
  4. Download each certificate from your dashboard.
  5. Mulhim posts the hours to your Mumaris Plus record within 24 to 48 business hours.
  6. Open your CPD record and confirm the hours due have gone down.

If you have never read your CPD record before, this walkthrough on checking your CPD hours in Mumaris Plus shows where each number sits.

Renewal reads your record, not your certificates
Keep your certificates, but remember that SCFHS checks the hours posted to Mumaris Plus. If an activity is missing, contact the provider first. If that does not solve it, raise a Tawasul ticket with the provider name, the activity approval number and the activity date.

Choose your bundle

Each bundle gives 6 months of access, and every certificate stays in your dashboard. Physicians and dentists can start with 40 and add accredited activities to reach 60; a new 20-hour offering for them is coming soon.

Frequently asked questions

Can I complete all 40 CME hours online?

Yes. Eight accredited online courses at 5 hours each give you 40 hours, and they count the same way as any other accredited activity once they are posted to your record.

How long do I have to finish the 40-hour bundle?

Each bundle gives you 6 months of access, which is enough for a steady plan of one course a week.

When do the hours appear in Mumaris Plus?

Mulhim posts your hours within 24 to 48 business hours after you complete a course.

Where do I get my certificates?

You download them from your Mulhim dashboard whenever you need them.

I am a physician. Is 40 enough?

Physicians and dentists need 60 hours per period. Forty hours is a strong start, and you can top up the remaining 20 with other accredited activities.
