SCFHS professional registration lasts two years. To keep practising after that, you renew it through Mumaris Plus using the service SCFHS calls re-registration. Most delays come from CPD hours that are missing or not yet on your record, so it helps to know the requirements well before the last few weeks of your cycle. This guide sets out what SCFHS publishes about re-registration: when to apply, how many hours you need, which documents to prepare, and what happens if you are late or short on hours.
How long registration lasts and when to apply
The SCFHS Mumaris Plus FAQ states that the professional registration period is two years and that you can apply for renewal three months before your registration ends. Plan around that three-month window. By the time it opens, your CPD hours should already be on your record.
You apply through Mumaris Plus, the unified system SCFHS uses for practitioner services. Log in, select the re-registration service and follow the steps shown in your account.
CPD hours you need for re-registration
SCFHS sets the required CPD hours by professional category. The figures on its re-registration requirements page are:
- Technicians: 20 hours
- Specialists: 40 hours
- Pharmacists: 40 hours
- Doctors: 60 hours
The FAQ does not give a separate figure for consultants. It points them to the SCFHS requirements, so if you are a consultant, confirm your number in the SCFHS classification and registration regulations or in your account.
Your Mumaris Plus account has an hours counter that shows the hours required for your registration and the hours you still owe. That counter reflects your own category and cycle, so use it as the reference for your case.
Two limits are worth knowing before you start collecting hours. Only activities related to your field of practice count, and academic degrees and diplomas are not counted as CPD hours.
How CPD hours reach your record
For accredited activities held in Saudi Arabia, you do not upload certificates yourself in Mumaris Plus. The provider's coordinator records your attendance on Mustamir, the SCFHS CPD platform, and the hours are pulled into Mumaris Plus once the provider confirms your attendance. Our Mustamir guide explains how the platform fits in.
If hours from an activity do not appear, contact the provider first. If that does not solve it, raise a ticket through Tawasul and include the provider's name, the activity approval number and the activity date.
Hours earned abroad, or from activities outside this system, go through a separate recognition service in Mumaris Plus. See our guide on claiming CME hours from external courses for that route, and checking your CPD hours and activity status for reading the counter.
Documents to prepare
The SCFHS re-registration requirements list the following:
- An employment letter from the personnel affairs department or the facility's representative. It must show your clinical practice in the specialty, your professional category and your start date, and it must be issued within three months before you submit the application.
- Your national ID or Iqama.
- A medical report, only if you are over 65.
- Verification results from an SCFHS-approved verification company for documents you have not submitted before. This covers foreign qualifications, a foreign professional registration certificate if you have one, and foreign experience letters received after your qualification.
Qualifications that Saudis obtained abroad and that the Ministry of Education has equalized do not need verification. Because of the three-month limit on the employment letter, request it close to the date you plan to apply rather than months ahead.
If your hours are short: the one-year renewal
If you have not completed the required CPD hours, SCFHS renews your registration for one year instead of two. This option is available once. It buys time to catch up, but the next renewal then comes a year later and you cannot rely on the same option a second time. Completing your hours on schedule is the safer plan.
Late renewal and fines
According to the FAQ, a fine is issued 31 days after the end of the registration period. SCFHS does not state the amount on its FAQ or requirements page, so check Mumaris Plus for what applies to you. Applying inside the three-month window before your registration ends avoids the question entirely.
When re-registration is no longer an option
If more than one year has passed since your registration ended, you cannot apply for re-registration. You submit a new application through the Professional Registration service instead. Our article on SCFHS registration vs re-registration compares the two services. If you have been away from practice for a while, the guide on returning to practice after a break covers what SCFHS publishes about that situation.
What about fees?
SCFHS does not list a re-registration fee on its FAQ or on the requirements page. If a fee applies, Mumaris Plus shows it during the application. Read the amount there instead of relying on figures quoted on other websites, which may be out of date.
A practical timeline
- Early in the two-year cycle, open the hours counter in Mumaris Plus, note your target and start completing accredited activities in your field.
- Around the midpoint, compare the counter with what you have completed. Follow up any missing activity with the provider while the dates are still fresh.
- A few months before the end date, close any remaining gap and ask your employer for the employment letter so that it falls within three months of your application.
- Once the three-month window opens, log in to Mumaris Plus and apply for re-registration.
Where Mulhim fits
Mulhim is an SCFHS-accredited CME provider (No. AC10000415). Each course is worth 5 CME hours and comes with its own certificate. Courses are online and self-paced, so you can fit them around shifts, and completed hours are sent to Mumaris Plus. If you need a set number of hours, bundles of 20, 30 or 40 hours make the numbers easy to plan: a 20-hour bundle matches a technician's requirement, and a 40-hour bundle matches a specialist's or a pharmacist's. Choose courses that relate to your own field, since only those count.
The catalogue has more than 100 courses, and more than 150,000 learners have used Mulhim. About once a month one accredited course is offered free; the rest are paid.
Employers renewing many staff at once can use institutional CME pricing or a custom training program, with completion tracked for each participant.
