The short answer

Your SCFHS professional registration lasts two years, and your CME hours belong to that period. You can apply to renew three months before it ends, and a late fine applies from 31 days after it ends. Your category sets how many hours the period needs: 20, 40 or 60.

The hours are not counted per calendar year. They belong to your own registration period, which starts and ends on your personal dates. Two colleagues hired on the same day can still be on different cycles if they registered at different times.

A reminder from SCFHS
As shown in Mumaris Plus, SCFHS sends a reminder about 60 days before your registration expires, by email and WhatsApp. Treat it as a final check, not as the start of your planning.

How many hours does the period need?

20
hours / period

Technicians

Nursing, lab, pharmacy, radiology and other technicians.

40
hours / period

Specialists and pharmacists

Including registered and specialist nurses.

60
hours / period

Physicians and dentists

Every grade, GP to consultant.

Spread over two years, even 60 hours is a few hours a month. The difficulty is rarely the total; it is leaving everything to the final months.

One period, with dates filled in

The stages are easier to picture with a calendar. Say a specialist's registration period ends on 30 June 2027, and the target is 40 hours. Working back from that date:

DateWhat it meansWhere the hours should be
July 2025The period begins0 of 40
June 2026The midpoint checkAbout 20 posted
January 2027The final six months startAny gap planned and booked
1 April 2027The renewal window opens, 3 months before the endAll 40 posted
31 July 202731 days after the end: the late fine appliesToo late

Your own dates are in Mumaris Plus. Write the end date somewhere you will see it, and count back three months for the window.

Where do people go wrong in the cycle?

  • Treating the cycle as a calendar year. Hours from January do not reset in December. They belong to your period, whenever it started.
  • Waiting for the SCFHS reminder before planning. As shown in Mumaris Plus, it comes about 60 days before expiry. By then the renewal window has already been open for about a month.
  • Applying before the last hours post. Mulhim posts within 24 to 48 business hours; leave that gap before you apply.
  • Counting on the one-year renewal. It exists for when hours fall short, but SCFHS allows it only once, and it shortens your next period to one year.

When the window opens, the steps of the renewal itself are covered in this guide to renewing your SCFHS registration in Mumaris Plus.

If you reach renewal short of hours

One-year renewal, only once
If the required hours are not complete, SCFHS can renew your registration for one year instead of two, and this is allowed only once. Completing your hours keeps the full two-year renewal.

Hours above your target

As shown in Mumaris Plus, hours earned beyond your target carry over as a balance you can use later. Either way, aim to finish early rather than at the last minute.

Keeping your record up to date

  1. After each accredited activity, wait for the provider to post the hours.
  2. Check your CPD record in Mumaris Plus.
  3. If hours are missing, contact the provider.
  4. If they are still missing, raise a Tawasul ticket with the provider name, activity approval number and activity date.

Plan your period with Mulhim

Every Mulhim course is SCFHS accredited and carries 5 CME hours, and Mulhim is fully accredited. Each bundle gives 6 months of access, which fits comfortably inside a two-year period. Mulhim posts your hours within 24 to 48 business hours, and you download your certificates from your dashboard. To find your target first, read how many CME hours SCFHS requires.
