The short answer

Every health technician registered with SCFHS needs 20 CME hours in each two-year registration period. That includes nursing, laboratory, pharmacy and radiology technicians. Four accredited 5-hour courses cover it, and the 20-hour bundle costs SAR 195.

Which technicians do the SCFHS CME hours rules cover?

SCFHS sets continuing education hours by your professional category. If your registration lists you as a technician, your target is 20 hours, whatever department you work in. The common technician titles include:

20
hours / 2 years

Nursing technicians

Technician-level nursing staff on wards, clinics and emergency departments.

20
hours / 2 years

Lab technicians

Technicians in clinical and hospital laboratories.

20
hours / 2 years

Pharmacy technicians

Technicians working alongside pharmacists.

20
hours / 2 years

Radiology technicians

Technicians in imaging and radiology departments.

Technician or specialist?
The same field can have both. A lab specialist needs 40 hours while a lab technician needs 20, and the same split applies in nursing, pharmacy and radiology. Check the exact category on your registration in Mumaris Plus before you buy anything.

A four-course plan

Twenty hours is the most manageable target SCFHS sets, but it still needs a plan, because shifts and family life fill the weeks quickly. These paces all fit comfortably inside 6 months of access:

PaceWhen it suits youTime to 20 hours
1 course a monthEarly in your two-year periodAbout 4 months
1 course every 2 weeksA few months before renewalAbout 2 months
1 course a weekRenewal is closeAbout 4 weeks

From course to record

  1. Confirm in Mumaris Plus that you are classified as a technician and check the hours still due.
  2. Choose the 20-hour bundle and start your first course.
  3. Complete each course and its assessment.
  4. Download each certificate from your dashboard.
  5. Mulhim posts the hours to your record within 24 to 48 business hours.
  6. Check your CPD record before you apply to renew.
Planning to become a specialist?
If your classification changes during your career, your target changes with it. Whenever that happens, check the new number on your CPD record in Mumaris Plus before you plan.

Why a small target still slips

Because 20 hours sounds light, it is easy to leave it to the last month. Then a run of night shifts, a family trip or a busy season at work takes the time you planned to use. Starting with one course early in your period removes most of that risk, and the remaining three courses become routine rather than a rush.

Four technicians, four starting points

WhoPosted so farStill dueWhat to do
Lab technician5153 courses. The 20-hour bundle covers it with one course spare.
Pharmacy technician0204 courses, one every two weeks
Radiology technician, renewal in 5 weeks0204 courses, one a week, then a week for posting
Nursing technician200Nothing to buy. Check the record and apply when the window opens.

The last row matters as much as the others. Some technicians reach 20 through hospital activities without noticing, then buy a bundle out of habit. Open Mumaris Plus before you spend anything. If you finish above 20, the extra shows as a balance, as shown in Mumaris Plus.

Mistakes technicians make with a 20-hour target

  • Following the plan of a specialist colleague and buying 40 hours.
  • Assuming a hospital lecture counted. It counts only if the activity was accredited and posted. If something is missing, contact the provider first, then raise a Tawasul ticket with the provider name, the activity approval number and the date.
  • Finishing all four courses in the final week and applying before they are posted.

Allied health technicians outside these four fields can read the wider guide on SCFHS CME requirements for technicians and allied health. To compare your target with other professions, the lookup of SCFHS CME hours by profession lists them side by side.

The dates around your renewal

Your registration lasts two years. You can apply to renew three months before it ends, and a late fine applies from 31 days after it ends. If the required hours are not complete, SCFHS can renew for one year instead of two, and only once. Finishing your 20 hours early keeps your full renewal.
