For each two-year registration period, SCFHS asks pharmacists for 40 CME hours, laboratory and radiology specialists for 40 hours, and pharmacy, lab and radiology technicians for 20 hours. The hours must come from accredited activities and be posted to Mumaris Plus.
SCFHS CME hours for pharmacists, lab and radiology, side by side
These three fields have one thing in common: a specialist and a technician often do similar-looking work in the same room, yet SCFHS classifies them in different categories. The category, not the room, sets the hours.
Pharmacy
Pharmacists. Pharmacy technicians need 20.
Laboratory
Lab specialists. Lab technicians need 20.
Radiology
Radiology specialists. Radiology technicians need 20.
| Field | Specialist title | Specialist or pharmacist | Technician |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pharmacy | Pharmacist, clinical pharmacist | 40 | 20 |
| Laboratory | Lab specialist | 40 | 20 |
| Radiology | Radiology specialist | 40 | 20 |
A quick self-check: read the title on your SCFHS registration. If it contains the word technician, your number is 20. If it says pharmacist or specialist, your number is 40. When in doubt, the target shown in your Mumaris Plus account settles it, and it is worth checking before you plan or pay for anything.
What counts toward your hours?
Only accredited activities count, and accreditation is granted per activity and per provider. Conferences, workshops and online courses can all qualify, provided the specific activity is accredited. Every Mulhim course is SCFHS accredited and carries 5 CME hours, and Mulhim is fully accredited.
What renewal reads is your Mumaris Plus record, called the CPD record. For activities inside the Kingdom, the provider posts the hours for you. Mulhim posts within 24 to 48 business hours after you finish each course, and you download your certificate from the dashboard.
When can you renew?
If you have not completed your hours by renewal, SCFHS can renew for one year instead of two, only once. As shown in Mumaris Plus, SCFHS also sends a reminder about 60 days before expiry, by email and WhatsApp, and hours earned beyond your target carry over as a balance you can use later.
Three worked examples
The numbers are simple once you know your category. Where people stumble is the gap between what they think they have and what is posted. Here is how three typical cases play out.
| Who | Target | Posted so far | Still needed | Courses of 5 hours |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Hospital pharmacist, starting late | 40 | 0 | 40 | 8 |
| Lab specialist after one conference | 40 | 10 | 30 | 6 |
| Radiology technician | 20 | 5 | 15 | 3 |
The pharmacist who starts from zero takes the 40-hour bundle. Each bundle gives 6 months of access, so 8 courses in that time is roughly one course every three weeks. The lab specialist with 10 posted hours needs 30, which the 30-hour bundle covers exactly. The radiology technician needs 15, so three courses close the gap.
In each case the starting figure comes from the CPD record in Mumaris Plus, not from a pile of certificates. If a conference certificate says 10 hours but the record shows nothing, that activity is not counted yet. Chase the provider before you buy anything to replace it.
Which mistakes delay pharmacy, lab and radiology renewals?
- A technician buying for 40 hours because a colleague in the same lab did. Your title decides the number, and a technician's is 20.
- Doing the last course in the final week. Posting takes 24 to 48 business hours, so leave room before you apply.
- Counting an activity that was not accredited. Check the specific activity, not only the provider's name.
- Missing the window. You can apply 3 months before your period ends, and the late fine starts 31 days after it ends.

Turning the rules into a plan
Pharmacists and specialists usually close 40 hours with eight accredited courses; technicians close 20 with four. For a week-by-week plan, read the 40-hour plan for pharmacy, lab and radiology. Technicians can follow the 20-hour guide.
